No More Excuses

I have been lying to myself for a while that I don’t have enough time to do a lot of things that I have always wanted to do. The truth is that I have tons of time. I just don’t want to put the effort out there to do those things. Some of those things are as easy as simply writing more blogs for my amazing followers or even going to visit a state park that I haven’t been to yet. I have recently decided that I am tired of coming up with excuses for why I can’t do something.

Just the other day I was thinking about taking a trip to Colorado to hike up another 14er for my birthday. I seconded guessed myself for a second if I really wanted to do it. But I realized I was just avoiding telling myself the answer that I wanted to hear. I just went ahead and booked my flight for that weekend and I didn’t get approval from my boss yet. I started saying this saying a few weeks ago “I don’t ask for permissions, I just get shit done.” I don’t know if that is the right thing to say all the time but I have felt more productive when I think like that. The majority of the time everything has turned out just fine. I need to quit asking myself permission to do something. Yes, sometimes I really do need to sit there and think about what I am about to do.

Six months after starting this website I said that I was going to start selling stickers and t-shirts. That was in March of 2018, which is over 3 years ago. Why was I putting it off? I could find an excuse for anything. I mean the slogan for Adventures In Texas is the epitome of what I mean. “Texas is out there waiting.” What that means describes life for now perfectly.
